The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the payroll and benefit administration for ISBH. You will take part in all compensation-related processes, such as collecting and verifying timesheet accuracy, addressing absence time management system issues, preparing salary-related documentation, processing employees’ invoices, and maintaining a database of transaction records. You will also be expected to advise employees on benefit-related issues and ensure proper use of the existing benefits.

Essential Functions:

  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees.
  • Prepare reports for upper management, finance department etc.
  • Collect timesheet data and payroll information.
  • Enter data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs.
  • Calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Assist with benefit program administration.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Prepare and distribute income statements.
  • Process leaves of absence and paid-time-off paperwork.
  • Conduct employee-benefit online meetings to inform employees of applicable benefits.
  • Assist with new hire orientation.
  • Handle monthly payroll reconciliation.
  • Audit benefit enrollment reports for accuracy.
  • Use HRIS (human resources information system) to track payroll changes and benefit deductions and make corrections where necessary.
  • Actively collaborate with other members of the Human Resources team to ensure the accuracy of all operations and work closely with Finance to ensure our payment processes adhere to the company and state policies and regulations.
  • Nurtures a strong service culture that ensures delivery of quick, repeatable, and quality-driven service to multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $22.26 per hour.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in human resources or a relevant field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources/accounting preferred.
  • Has a minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a payroll department.
  • Possess strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax withholding and gross up calculations.
  • Experience interpreting and applying payroll and benefit polices.
  • Able to perform duties with a high level of accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and have a strong desire to learn and succeed.
  • Experience with relevant software (e.g. Kronos, Payforce) and databases.
  • Great attention to detail and confidentiality.
