The Billing & Credentialing Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Revenue Cycle Manager with oversight of the daily operations of the billing and credentialing teams, ensuring accurate and efficient claims processing, timely provider credentialing, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills, experience in medical billing and credentialing, and the ability to optimize processes for efficiency and accuracy. The position may require performing billing and/or credentialing functions.

The salary range for this position is $66,174.73-$79,175.95 based on experience, education, and/or licensure.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the daily medical billing process, including claims submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Ensure claims are processed accurately and in a timely manner to minimize denials and maximize revenue.
  • In collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager, monitor and analyze billing performance metrics and implement process improvements as needed.
  • Resolve complex billing issues, including payer denials and appeals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations, coding changes, and reimbursement policies.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate documentation and billing practices.
  • Train and support billing and credentialing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the credentialing and re-credentialing process for providers with insurance payers and other entities.
  • Ensure timely submission and follow-up on credentialing applications to prevent lapses in provider participation.
  • Maintain provider credentialing files, tracking expiration dates and ensuring all necessary documentation is current.
  • Work closely with providers, payers, and internal teams to resolve credentialing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific credentialing requirements.
  • Attend internal and external training as needed.
  • Other tasks as needed to support Integrated Services billing and/or credentialing departments.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in Ohio Behavioral Health Medicaid billing preferred.
  • One year of experience in provider credentialing and Ohio Medicaid provider enrollment.
  • One year of supervisor experience in a healthcare billing role is required.
  • Five years of experience using an electronic health record is preferred.
  • One year of experience working in NPPES, CAQH, and PNM, is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of cultural awareness.
  • Ability to use appropriate databases, spreadsheets, and other software.
  • Able to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression.
  • Must be able to operate in an Internet-based, automated office environment.
  • State of Ohio Driver’s License

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Health, Administration or another related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
