The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the payroll and benefit administration for ISBH. You will take part in all compensation-related processes, such as collecting and verifying timesheet accuracy, addressing time management system issues, preparing salary-related documentation, and maintaining a database of transaction records. You will also be expected to advise employees on benefit-related issues and ensure proper use of the existing benefits.

The pay range for this position is $44,512.00- $52,104.00 annually based on experience

Essential Functions:

  • Responds to team member payroll and benefits questions through the HR ticketing system
  • Prepare reports for upper management and the finance department
  • Collect timesheet data and payroll information
  • Enter data into administrative databases and software programs
  • Calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Assist with benefit program administration
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Assists the payroll team in processing monthly payroll reconciliation.
  • Participates in HR team meetings.
  • Assists the payroll coordinator in auditing benefit enrollment reports for accuracy.
  • Use HRIS (human resources information system) to track payroll changes and benefit deductions and make corrections where necessary.
  • Actively collaborate with other members of the Payroll and Benefits team to ensure the accuracy of the payroll and benefits function.
  • Work closely with the Payroll and Benefits team and the Finance team to ensure that our payment processes comply with company and state policies and regulations.
  • Nurtures a strong service culture that ensures delivery of quick, repeatable, and quality-driven payroll and benefit responses to team members.
  • Travel within the designated service area
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • A bachelor’s degree in a human resources or related field is preferred
  • SHRM-CP is preferred

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience working in a payroll department is required
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll laws, tax withholding, and gross-up calculations is required
  • Experience interpreting and applying payroll and benefit policies is required
  • Experience with payroll software and databases is required

Education/Licensure:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • A bachelor’s degree in a human resources or related field is preferred
  • SHRM-CP is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced skills in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools are required
  • Able to perform duties with a high level of accuracy and detail is required
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines is required
  • Able to work independently and within a team is required
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy are required
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written is required

  • Excellent organizational skills are required

  • A valid driver's license is required

  • Ability to manage deadlines within a fast-paced, high-volume environment is required

  • The ability to operate in an Internet-based, automated office environment is required

  • The ability to maintain a high-speed internet connection is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are required
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times is required
